Bakemonogatari is a Japanese anime television series adapted from a light novel series of the same name, written by Nisio Isin. The series follows the story of a high school student named Koyomi Araragi as he helps various girls in his school who are afflicted by supernatural apparitions, known as "oddities." Season 1 episode 8 is titled Suruga Monkey - (Part 3).

At the start of the episode, Koyomi, Tsubasa Hanekawa, and Kanbaru Suruga are still on the run from the monkey oddity that has taken over Kanbaru's body. They are heading towards the Kanbaru residence, hoping to find a solution to get rid of the oddity once and for all. As they walk, Kanbaru reminisces about when she first met Koyomi and how she was inspired to become a basketball player like him.

Upon reaching the Kanbaru residence, they are greeted by Kanbaru's mother, who is clearly not surprised to see her daughter in her current state. She reveals that Kanbaru's grandfather had made a pact with a monkey god and that Kanbaru's possession by the oddity is his doing. Koyomi and Tsubasa are shocked to learn this, but Kanbaru seems to have known all along. Disappointed with her grandfather's actions, Kanbaru decides to take matters into her own hands and confront him.

The group travels to the location where Kanbaru's grandfather, Deishuu Kaiki, is staying. Kaiki is a notorious con man who has been involved with several oddity-related incidents in the past. He claims to have no involvement in Kanbaru's possession, but Koyomi and Tsubasa don't believe him. In a tense conversation, Kaiki reveals that the monkey oddity is a manifestation of Kanbaru's own desires and that it will eventually fade away on its own.

As Koyomi and Tsubasa try to convince Kanbaru to return with them, Kaiki shows them a video of Kanbaru wishing for her mother's death. This revelation shocks everyone, including Kanbaru. She realizes that she has been suppressing her true feelings and that the monkey oddity was created as a result. Overwhelmed with guilt and sadness, Kanbaru decides to confront the oddity head-on.

The episode ends with Kanbaru fighting the monkey oddity in a brutal and emotional showdown. Koyomi and Tsubasa watch helplessly as Kanbaru unleashes her full potential, determined to rid herself of the oddity once and for all.

Overall, Suruga Monkey - (Part 3) is a gripping and emotional episode that delves deep into Kanbaru's character. It explores themes of regret, guilt, and the importance of confronting one's own desires. The fight scene between Kanbaru and the monkey oddity is expertly animated and serves as a cathartic conclusion to the arc. This episode is a must-watch for fans of the series.
