Two strangers, Tom (Peter Sheridan) and Jerry (Daragh Kelly) arrive in town, behaving very suspiciously. They are spotted watching Quigley buying materials from the shop of his old enemy, Dooley (Owen Roe). Meanwhile, Quigley is burgled, losing, amongst other things, his account books. He refuses to tell the police, as the books are decidedly dodgy and he does not want his shady deals exposed. Rumors that Tom and Jerry are from "the Revenue" send shockwaves through the village. Assumpta tells Niamh that she is fed up with life in Ballykissangel and that she is considering a move to Dublin. Word soon spreads that she is leaving, and Father Peter is hurt that she did not talk to him about it. Niamh suspects that she is pregnant again and eventually goes to the doctor.
