In the third episode of the first season of Beauty and the Beast (2012), entitled "All In," viewers find detective Catherine Chandler (played by Kristin Kreuk) and "beast" Vincent Keller (played by Jay Ryan) working together to solve a case that involves the murder of a high stakes poker player.
Things get complicated quickly, as Vincent finds himself drawn to the victim's sister, Alex, who has come to New York City to help investigate her brother's death. Alex blames herself for her brother's obsession with gambling and wants to find out what happened to him. Vincent tries to help her by infiltrating the underground poker world and getting to know some of the players, including the wealthy and dangerous Ivan Rasic (played by Jason Gedrick).
Meanwhile, Catherine is struggling to balance her investigation with her personal life. She still hasn't fully dealt with the trauma of her mother's murder years earlier, and her relationship with her boyfriend, Evan Marks (played by Max Brown), is strained. When she realizes that Vincent is getting in over his head with Ivan, she tries to warn him, but he seems determined to help Alex get justice for her brother.
As the investigation unfolds, Vincent discovers that Ivan is involved in more than just high stakes gambling - he's also involved in a human trafficking ring. Alex gets too close to the truth and becomes a target, leading Vincent and Catherine to scramble to save her before it's too late.
"All In" is a thrilling episode that delves deeper into the mythology of the show's central characters and introduces new dangers and challenges to their relationship. It also sets the stage for further exploration of the underground world of crime in New York City, which will continue to play a role in the show's future episodes and seasons. Fans of crime dramas and supernatural romance will enjoy this episode, which blends both genres seamlessly and keeps viewers on the edge of their seats from start to finish.
