Oga's training with Hilda as his master continues in Beelzebub season 1 episode 44, titled “I Must Become Stronger”. As Oga strains to improve his demon-summoning abilities, Hilda notices that Oga's strength comes from his pure-hearted nature, and he lacks malice in his heart. This serves as a hindrance when trying to control demons.
Hilda instructs Oga to focus his negative emotions rather than suppressing them, which will allow him to command the demons more effectively. Oga attempts to channel his frustration the way Hilda describes, but it doesn't seem to be making much of a difference in his abilities. Hilda reveals that in order for Oga to progress further, he must seek out an opponent that can challenge him and push him to his limits.
At the same time, the Behemoth is on a rampage, with all of his underground labs now destroyed. The general becomes increasingly worried and has a conversation with the head of the research facility, Dr. Kanzaki. Dr. Kanzaki informs the general that he has been developing a bio-weapon that is on the verge of completion. The general sees this as the only viable option to stop the Behemoth.
Without hesitation, the general orders Dr. Kanzaki to deploy the bio-weapon. However, Dr. Kanzaki is hesitant as the weapon's sole purpose is to kill the Behemoth without any guarantee that it won't cause collateral damage or wipe out an entire city.
While all of this is happening, Himekawa, Natsume, and Tatsuya, along with their respective demons, are looking for Oga to train with him. They run into Beelzebub, who directs them to Hilda's home, where they find Oga training intensely. After watching him for a while, Himekawa challenges Oga to a fight, mentioning that he completely obliterated Tatsuya in just one punch previously.
As the fighting commences, Oga quickly realizes Himekawa is much stronger than before and is fighting with incredible force. Throughout the fight, Oga grows increasingly desperate to find a way to counter Himekawa's strength. In the end, he discovers a way to finally control his temper, allowing him to effectively summon and command the demon.
Episode 44 of Beelzebub is filled with action and suspense, with the tension building up towards the looming threat of the bio-weapon and the Behemoth's continued destruction. Oga's struggle with controlling his emotions serves as a great character development arc, with the added dynamic of intense combat and the pressure to become stronger. Fans of the series will not be disappointed with this episode.
