Bid America is a reality TV show that captures the thrill of live auctions in America today. The series follows a well-respected auction house, Rich Penn Auctions, based in the heartland of America as it looks to sell almost 1,500 items--all in three days of frantic bidding at their May auction in Wilmar, Minnesota. Each episode tells the story of an individual seller and the collection going up for auction. We're introduced to some colorful characters, from Linda and Jim Caldwell and their massive vintage toy collection to Mervyn Criser and his outstanding collection of fireman-related items, all from his home town of Wichita, Kansas. Classic cars, antique firearms, classic neon signs, and rock and roll memorabilia are some of the other great collections of Americana up for auction in the series. Each has its own history and allure, and the show brings this all to life in loving detail. The show captures the life-long love of collectors for their collections and the often difficult choice to part with some or all of them. Often this is caused by ill health or divorce, but Bid America shows that their loss is definitely other peoples' gain.
