Call of the Wildman Season 3 Episode 5 Deer Destruction

  • June 16, 2013

Call of the Wildman is an American television series that follows the life and adventures of a skilled animal rescuer named Ernie Brown Jr. — aka Turtleman. In each episode, Turtleman and his team rescue animals, who have strayed into populated areas or are in danger from hunters or other predators.

In season 3 episode 5 of Call of the Wildman, entitled "Deer Destruction," Turtleman gets a call from a farmer who is dealing with a big problem: a herd of deer has broken into his pumpkin patch and is wreaking havoc on his crops. Turtleman and his team are tasked with removing the deer from the farmer's property without harming them and returning them to the wild where they belong.

As soon as Turtleman arrives at the farm, he gets to work setting up cameras to monitor the deer's movements, so he can come up with a plan of action. With over a dozen deer running around the field, it's going to take some careful coordination to safely relocate them. Turtleman and his team start laying down bait hay to attract the deer and slowly, but surely, they start to corral them into a designated area.

The next step is to safely sedate the deer, so they can be tagged and transported back into the wild. This is where Turtleman's unique "turtle technique" comes into play. He crawls up on his belly and slowly approaches the deer from behind, soothing them with his voice and waiting for the right moment to strike with his trusty catchpole. It's a delicate process, and one wrong move could spook the deer and send them running off into the sunset.

Once Turtleman has secured the deer with the catchpole, he administers a sedative and carefully tracks the deer's vitals to make sure they are stable. The deer are then loaded onto a truck and transported to a remote location where they can be safely released back into the wild.

Along the way, Turtleman also encounters a number of other animals in need of his help, including a skunk that has taken up residence in a woman's garage and a young fawn that has become trapped between two fences. Turtleman uses his mastery of animal behavior and trapping techniques to safely remove these animals from danger and return them back to their natural habitat.

Throughout the episode, viewers get to witness the excitement, danger, and raw emotion that comes with Turtleman's job. Turtleman's passion for animals and his willingness to risk his own life to save them is truly inspiring and makes for captivating television.

In the end, Turtleman successfully removes the deer from the pumpkin patch and relocates them back into the wild. The farmer is elated and relieved that his crops are safe, and Turtleman gets to go home knowing that he made a difference in the lives of these animals. It's just another day in the life of Turtleman, and we can't wait to see what adventures he has in store next.
