Call the Midwife is a BBC One drama series that follows the lives of midwives, nurses, and nuns who work in the East End of London during the 1950s and 1960s. The show is based on the memoirs of Jennifer Worth and has gained a cult following since its premiere in 2012. Season 8 episode 7, titled Episode 7, is another emotional and powerful addition to the series.

The episode begins with Shelagh preparing for her upcoming trip to South Africa with her husband, Dr. Turner. Though she is excited for her new adventure, the thought of leaving her job and patients behind makes her anxious. Meanwhile, Sister Hilda is having a tough time adjusting to life in Poplar after her stint in Hong Kong.

As the midwives go about their daily routines, they encounter a young woman named Lucille Anderson who is seeking their help. Lucille is a Jamaican immigrant who has been diagnosed with sickle cell anemia, a chronic condition that causes excruciating pain and fatigue. She is struggling to find a doctor who understands her condition and can provide adequate treatment. The midwives rally together to find a specialist who can help Lucille manage her symptoms and improve her quality of life.

Elsewhere, Nurse Crane has her hands full with a young woman named Angela. Angela is pregnant with her first child and is dealing with severe anxiety, which is causing her to stress out about the delivery. Nurse Crane tries to calm her down and shows her different relaxation techniques to help her cope with the pain.

Later in the episode, the midwives receive news that a local man has been involved in a car accident. They rush to the scene to render assistance, but their efforts are hindered by a group of racist men who refuse to let them help the injured man because he is black. The midwives are shocked and disgusted by the racism they encounter and vow to fight against it in any way they can.

As the episode draws to a close, Shelagh and Dr. Turner bid a tearful goodbye to their friends and colleagues as they depart for South Africa. Sister Hilda continues to struggle with her new surroundings but finds solace in the kindness of the people around her. Lucille is finally able to find a doctor who understands her condition and can provide her with the care she needs. Angela gives birth to a healthy baby boy, and the midwives rejoice in the miracle of new life.

Overall, Episode 7 of Call the Midwife is an emotional rollercoaster that tackles issues of racism, illness, and anxiety. It is a poignant reminder of the resilience and kindness of the human spirit and the power of community in times of need. Fans of the show will not be disappointed with this latest addition to the series.
