Four young culinary prodigies test their skills in the Chopped Junior kitchen in season 4, episode 10, titled "Hot Potato, Not Potato." The young chefs, ranging in age from 10 to 13, must show off their creativity, culinary knowledge, and ability to think on their feet in several rounds of competition.

In the first round, dubbed the appetizer round, the young chefs must create a dish using a mystery basket of ingredients. These chefs are used to working with traditional ingredients like chicken and veggies, but today's basket presents a unique challenge. All of the ingredients are either hot or cold and must be used in some way to create an appetizer. Ingredients like buffalo sauce, beef carpaccio, and yuzu juice stretch these young chefs' palates and creativity in new and exciting ways.

The second round, known as the entree round, ramps up the intensity even more. The young chefs must utilize a mandatory ingredient in their dish -- this time a vienna sausage or hot dog. But here's the catch: they can't actually use the hot dog or sausage itself in the dish. Instead, they must use hot potato chips - a product made by shredding, frying, and seasoning whole potatoes. From fish to poultry to beef, the young chefs must take their cut of protein and create an innovative and flavorful entree dish that features this unique ingredient.

As the competition heats up, the young chefs continue to impress with their culinary prowess and creativity. The final round, the dessert round, challenges them to create a sweet treat using yet another ingredient they might not expect: tomatoes. Paired with classic dessert ingredients like chocolate and whipped cream, the young chefs must prove they can create a dessert that not only tastes great but is visually appealing as well.

Throughout the episode, the young chefs engage in playful banter while also supporting each other in their culinary journeys. Host Ted Allen, along with a rotating panel of judges, tastes and judges each dish based on factors such as presentation, creativity, and taste.

As with each episode of Chopped Junior, "Hot Potato, Not Potato" showcases the culinary talents of these young chefs while also emphasizing the importance of creativity, quick thinking, and teamwork in the kitchen.
