In season 7 episode 9 of Cutthroat Kitchen, titled "Live and Let Diner," four chefs enter the kitchen with their eyes on the prize of $25,000. However, as always, host Alton Brown adds some twists and turns to the already hectic competition.
In the first round, the chefs must create a dish using only ingredients found in a vending machine. The twist? They must do so while attached to a fellow chef by a bungee cord. As they bounce around the kitchen trying to gather ingredients, they must also maneuver around obstacles such as swinging pans and Alton himself, who tries to sabotage their progress.
The chefs face another challenge in round 2 when they must cook a classic diner breakfast using only the appliances found in a retro diner. However, in true Cutthroat Kitchen fashion, they must first bid on sabotages that will make the task even more difficult. These sabotages include an egg cracking contraption that only cracks one out of every three eggs and a jukebox that plays loud rock music, making it hard for the chefs to communicate with their teammates.
As the chefs struggle to overcome these difficulties, Alton introduces a new twist to the game. In round 3, each chef must create a dish using a supermarket shopping bag filled with mystery ingredients chosen by their opponents. This means they not only have to figure out how to use unfamiliar ingredients, but they must also deal with sabotages such as having to cook with oven mitts on or wearing a pair of oversized glasses that distort their vision.
In the end, only one chef will come out victorious and take home the $25,000 prize. But with so many obstacles and sabotage in their way, it's anyone's guess who will win. Tune in to "Live and Let Diner" to find out which chef will come out on top.
