In Cutthroat Kitchen season 8 episode 12 titled "Molasses, Mo' Problems," host Alton Brown brings on four chefs to compete in a series of challenging cooking battles that put a twist on classic dishes. The chefs are given a starting budget of $25,000 each, which they can use to bid on ingredients or sabotage their opponents. But they must be careful, as they could also fall victim to their own sabotage.
The first round challenges the chefs to make pancakes using only ingredients from a breakfast cereal aisle. To make matters even more difficult, one chef is forced to wear an oversized pancake costume while cooking. In the second round, the chefs are tasked with making chicken and waffles, but must use a giant waffle iron that requires two people to operate. Additionally, they must find a way to cook the chicken without a stove or oven.
The third round presents a unique challenge as the chefs must create a dessert using molasses as the main ingredient. However, one chef is forced to swap all of their cooking tools with their opponent, while another is given a cowbell to ring every five minutes, disrupting their concentration.
The fourth and final round features a steak dinner challenge, where the chefs must cook their steak using only ingredients from a vending machine. However, they must also navigate moving targets that block their access to the machine, making it a race against time.
Throughout the episode, the chefs face various obstacles and challenges, including sabotages such as being forced to use individually-wrapped cheese slices instead of fresh cheese, or having to wear a suit made of Velcro that sticks to everything. Their creativity and skill are put to the test as they strive to create tasty and innovative dishes using the limited resources they have.
In the end, only one chef will emerge victorious and walk away with the remaining prize money. With unexpected twists and turns at every turn, "Molasses, Mo' Problems" is an exciting and entertaining episode of Cutthroat Kitchen that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
