After a successful mission in the past, the Legends return to a drastically altered present where they face more challenges than ever before. In the season 2 premiere of DC's Legends of Tomorrow, titled "Out of Time," the team must battle evil time traveler, Damien Darhk, who has joined forces with another villain from the past to destroy the Legends once and for all.
The episode begins with the Legends returning to 2016, only to find that the world is vastly different from the one they left behind. They soon discover that they broke time when they stopped the villain Vandal Savage from causing a future apocalypse, and now they must work together to fix their mistakes and restore the timeline.
But the team's efforts are complicated by the arrival of their old enemy, Damien Darhk, who has somehow managed to survive his apparent death in the previous season. Darhk is now working with Eobard Thawne, also known as the Reverse-Flash, who is from a different timeline altogether. Together, they plan to eliminate the Legends and take over the world.
In order to prevent Darhk and Thawne from succeeding in their plan, the Legends must travel through time once again to stop the duo and fix the timeline. On their travels, they encounter several historical figures, including Albert Einstein and President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The team also reunites with a former teammate, Leonard Snart, who returns as the villainous Captain Cold.
As the Legends race to stop Darhk and Thawne, tensions rise within the team. Leader Rip Hunter is haunted by his own secrets, while Sara Lance struggles to keep the team together in the face of danger. In addition, newcomer Nate Heywood begins to discover his own powers, which could shift the balance of power within the team.
The action-packed episode features plenty of thrills and surprises, as well as humor, heart, and character development. With high stakes and a constantly evolving plot, "Out of Time" delivers a satisfying start to the second season of DC's Legends of Tomorrow.
