Ep 2. Freakshow

When the curtain rises on "Freakshow," the second episode of DC's Legends of Tomorrow's third season, the team is still reeling from the news that Sara (Caity Lotz) has been abducted by the Time Bureau. While they try to come up with a plan to rescue her, a new anachronism alerts them to trouble in Wisconsin, circa 1870. The Legends head to the Midwest to investigate and discover that P.T. Barnum (guest star Billy Zane, Titanic), the famous circus showman, is behind the chaos.

The team soon realizes that Barnum is using his traveling show to enslave "freaks," or individuals with unusual abilities, for his own profit. Ray (Brandon Routh) and Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) go undercover as a married couple to get close to Barnum, while the rest of the team tries to rescue the captured freaks.

As the mission unfolds, tensions rise between the team members. Mick (Dominic Purcell) is particularly agitated, as he feels that Ray is becoming too invested in his undercover role and losing sight of their primary objective. Meanwhile, Nate (Nick Zano) struggles with his attraction to Amaya, the woman he knows he can never have.

Amidst the personal drama, the team must also confront the ethical quandary of whether or not to interfere with Barnum's exploitation of the freaks. As they debate the issue, they soon realize that they are not the only ones with an interest in the situation. A mysterious masked figure is also lurking in the shadows, with his own agenda for the freaks.

With plenty of action and humor, "Freakshow" is an entertaining and thought-provoking episode that explores the exploitation of marginalized populations in a historical context.
