Ep 12. Sixty Foot Monster

As the 15th season of Deadliest Catch continues, the crab boats face ever more treacherous conditions and challenges in the unforgiving Bering Sea. In episode 12, titled "Sixty Foot Monster," the crews of the various vessels are forced to contend with a formidable foe: massive waves that threaten to capsize their boats at any moment.

The episode kicks off with the Wizard and her captain Keith Colburn, who are searching for a hot spot to drop their pots. As they navigate the choppy waters, they spot a towering wave approaching them. Keith orders his crew to brace for impact and holds on tight as the wave slams into the boat. Meanwhile, the Cornelia Marie finds themselves battling a fierce storm as well, with massive waves crashing over the deck and soaking the crew.

On the Time Bandit, Captain Johnathan Hillstrand and his crew are also facing their own set of challenges. They've managed to locate a prime spot for crab, but it's also located in the middle of a fleet of competing boats. Johnathan hatches a risky plan to get his pots down before any of the other boats can, but it involves getting dangerously close to the other vessels and leaves the crew on high alert.

As the episode progresses, the weather only continues to worsen. The F/V Brenna A has to contend with huge walls of water slamming into the boat, threatening to knock their deckhands overboard. Over on the Saga, captain Jake Anderson is trying to navigate through a maze of icebergs, which are difficult to spot in the midst of the storm. As the waves continue to batter the boat, morale sinks lower and lower.

Despite the incredibly tough conditions, the crews refuse to give up. They push themselves to their limits, working through the night to haul in as many crab as they can before the storm forces them to retreat. The stakes are high, with only a few days left of the season and every crab counts towards their bottom line.

As the episode comes to a close, the boats weather the storm and make it safely back to port. The captains and crews reflect on the challenges they've faced and the bonds they've formed over the course of the season. It's clear that even in the face of some of the deadliest weather on the planet, these hardened seamen know that their love of the sea and the thrill of the hunt will always bring them back for more.
