Ep 4. Death Arcade

Decim, the bartender of Quindecim decides to test his human observation skills, and thus sets up a game of air hockey for two newly-deceased humans, Misaki and Yousuke. He starts the game with a level of difficulty and gradually increases it as he sees to it that both of them get more invested into the game. He then reveals that the results of the game will determine which soul will be reincarnated and which one will be sent to the void.

Throughout their game, the two deceased humans have flashbacks revealing why they died, and Misaki becomes increasingly agitated as she recalls a traumatic experience that led up to her death. Yousuke tries his best to calm her down, but to no avail.

As the game progresses, Decim realizes that the stakes of the game are too high, and the outcome of the game is causing Misaki a lot of emotional distress. At the height of the game’s tension, Decim intervenes and reveals that the two are already dead and that the game was only a test to judge their characters.
