In Digimon Tamers season 3 episode 17 "Duel with the Deva", the tamers are on a mission to stop the Devas, a group of powerful digimon, from reaching the digital core of the earth and causing untold destruction.
The episode begins with the tamers heading towards the core, using their digimon partners to help them navigate the treacherous landscape. Along the way, they encounter a group of Devas led by the fierce digimon, Vikaralamon. The tamers quickly realize they are outmatched and need to come up with a plan to defeat their opponents.
As the tamers and their digimon prepare for the battle, they are joined by a mysterious figure named Ryo, who seems to know a lot about the Devas and their motives. Ryo also has a powerful digimon partner, Cyberdramon, who he warns the tamers to stay away from as he is unpredictable and dangerous.
Despite Ryo's warnings, one of the tamers, Rika, decides to challenge Cyberdramon to a battle. Rika's own digimon, Renamon, is no match for Cyberdramon's raw power, and she is quickly defeated. Ryo admits that Cyberdramon's power has gone out of control and he is unsure how to stop him.
Meanwhile, the other tamers engage in a fierce battle with the Devas. The Devas prove to be tough opponents, but the tamers are able to hold their own with the help of their digimon partners. Just when it seems like they are making progress, Vikaralamon reveals a powerful weapon that unleashes a devastating attack on the tamers and their digimon.
With their backs against the wall, the tamers are forced to retreat and regroup. Ryo suggests they try to reason with Cyberdramon and convince him to join their fight against the Devas. The tamers are skeptical, but with no other options, they agree to give it a try.
Rika and Renamon are the ones who approach Cyberdramon, using Rika's admiration of his strength to try and reason with him. Cyberdramon is initially dismissive, but as he listens to Rika's words, he begins to realize the error of his ways. Cyberdramon joins the tamers and together they head back into battle against the Devas.
Thanks to Cyberdramon's incredible power, the tamers are finally able to gain the upper hand in the battle. The Devas are quickly defeated one by one until only Vikaralamon remains. Despite his tenacity, Vikaralamon is no match for the combined strength of the tamers and their digimon partners, and he is defeated in a spectacular fashion.
With the battle won, the tamers return to the digital world, where they are met by Ryo and Cyberdramon. Ryo thanks the tamers for their help and reveals that he is actually a digimon himself. He explains that he has a mission to save the digital world from a great evil, and that he will need the tamers' help to do it.
The episode ends with the tamers cautiously agreeing to help Ryo on his quest. While the battle with the Devas is won, there is still much work to be done to ensure the safety of both the digital and human worlds.
