It's a new episode of Doctor Who with Sarah Jane Smith traveling with the Doctor, and they land in a quarry containing an ancient fossilized hand. The Doctor is intrigued by it and takes it back to the TARDIS where he can analyze it further. As he begins to work on it, an explosion occurs in the TARDIS, caused by a ring that Sarah had found and put on her finger.
The hand begins to come alive and takes control of Sarah's body, forcing her to take the TARDIS to a nuclear reactor, where the hand can absorb the radiation it needs to fully regenerate itself. The Doctor and Sarah arrive at the reactor to find a group of scientists struggling with an unknown alien threat. The hand, now fully regenerated, takes control of Sarah once again and begins to use her to create more hands, which it can use to take over the world and gain ultimate power.
The Doctor, with the help of the scientists, puts together a plan to stop the hands. They lure the hands into a cooling tower and trap them. The Doctor then uses the power of the TARDIS to transport the hands through time and space, to a desolate planet where they can't do any harm.
As the episode comes to a close, Sarah is deeply affected by the experience, realizing that she is not just an observer, but an active participant in the dangerous and often frightening world of the Doctor. The Doctor gives her a moment to reflect and then moves on, ready for whatever new adventure awaits.
