Doctor Who (1963) Season 18 Episode 13 State of Decay (1)

State of Decay (1) is the thirteenth episode of season 18 of Doctor Who. In this episode, The Doctor and his companion Romana are on board their TARDIS, travelling through time and space, when they come across a planet named "Alzarius". The planet seems to be going through a phase of permanent night time and the atmosphere is dense with mist and fog, creating an eerily creepy environment.

As The Doctor and Romana explore the planet, they come across a mysterious castle known as "The Tower of Rassilon". Upon entering the castle, they are confronted by a group of people who appear to be living in a state of medieval-like existence, which is highly unusual for the time period in which they have landed.

The Doctor and Romana soon discover that the castle is being held captive by three powerful entities known as "The Three Who Rule", who are considered gods by the people of the castle. The Three Who Rule claim to have absolute power over the inhabitants of the castle and demand unconditional obedience from them. Additionally, they also possess the ability to control the minds of anyone who opposes or resists them.

The Doctor and Romana are suspicious of the Three Who Rule and set out to investigate their true motives. They are aided in their mission by Adric, a young boy who claims to have originated on Alzarius. Together, the trio uncover a terrible secret that has been preserved through generations of castle residents - the Three Who Rule are actually vampires from the planet's distant past and the people of the castle are the descendants of their former victims.

As the Doctor and his companions come closer to discovering the truth, they realize that they are not the only ones who are investigating the matter. A group of rebels from a nearby village, who have also suffered at the hands of the vampires, are planning a rebellion against them. The Doctor, Romana and Adric ally with the rebels, hoping to take down the vampires and break their hold over the people of the castle.

Through a series of plot twists and unexpected turns, State of Decay (1) takes viewers on an intense and thrilling journey, complete with unexpected turns, a sense of foreboding and a state of constant tension. The episode sets the stage for the second part of the story, leaving viewers clamoring over what is to come. It is certainly a must-watch for fans of the show!
