The Doctor and Romana continue their quest to prevent the Time Lords from being able to escape E-Space. On the planet of Alzarius, they discover the existence of a large, medieval society that is apparently the sole surviving human civilization on the planet. However, all is not as it seems, as the people of this society are being used as food for a group of ancient, powerful vampires. The Doctor and Romana must find a way to stop the vampires from taking over the rest of the universe, while at the same time trying to find a way back to their own time and space. As they explore the vampire's lair, they also uncover the truth about the planet's past and the reason behind the society's existence. This episode is full of adventure, intrigue, and surprises as the Doctor and Romana work to save the day once again.
