The Doctor and Romana arrive on a planet that appears to be trapped in a medieval time period, with the inhabitants living in a feudal society. The two Time Lords soon discover that the planet is being controlled by a powerful vampire, the last of a race known as the Great Vampires. With the help of a group of rebels, the Doctor and Romana set out to defeat the vampire and free the people from his control.

As they journey deeper into the planet, they come across an ancient Time Lord spacecraft that was once used to transport vampire hunters. The Doctor realizes that the Time Lords had known about the Great Vampires and had sent the spacecraft to destroy their home planet. However, the Great Vampire had managed to survive and had made its way to the planet they were currently on.

The Doctor and Romana soon discover that the vampire has been feeding on the inhabitants of the planet, keeping them under his control and preventing them from advancing. The rebels, led by a nobleman named Ivo, are fighting to overthrow the vampire, but their efforts seem futile.

The Doctor makes contact with the Time Lord spacecraft, hoping to access its weapons and destroy the vampire once and for all. However, they soon discover that the Time Lord responsible for the mission, a former mentor of the Doctor named Borusa, had become corrupted by the power of the Great Vampire and had helped it survive.

As the rebellion reaches its climax, the Doctor and Romana must face off against Borusa and the vampire in a final showdown. With the help of Ivo and his rebels, the Time Lords must use all of their knowledge and resources to defeat the vampire before it's too late.

State of Decay (4) is an action-packed episode full of intrigue, adventure, and unexpected twists. It's a great addition to the Doctor Who franchise and a must-watch for any fan of the show.
