The Doctor, Romana, and K9 are still trapped on Tigella, trying to find a way to stop the impending destruction of both their planet and its neighboring world, Zolfa-Thura. The source of the problem is the Dodecahedron, a powerful device that can control the fabric of space and time, but which has been stolen by the villainous Gaztaks.
To make matters worse, the Doctor's old enemy, the megalomaniacal shape-shifting creature known as Meglos, has taken on the appearance of the Doctor himself and has infiltrated Tigella's ruling council. With the help of the Earthling pilot, Captain Deedrix, the Doctor must thwart Meglos' plans and retrieve the Dodecahedron before it's too late.
Meanwhile, Romana finds herself separated from the Doctor and K9, and is taken prisoner by the religious zealots known as the Deons. Led by their High Priestess Lexa, the Deons believe that the Dodecahedron is the physical embodiment of their god, and will stop at nothing to protect it.
As the Doctor races against time to stop Meglos and retrieve the Dodecahedron, he must also navigate the complex political and religious tensions on Tigella. With tenuous alliances forming and breaking at every turn, it becomes clear that nothing is as it seems and no one can be trusted.
In a thrilling conclusion, the Doctor and his companions must face off against Meglos and his minions in a final showdown for the fate of two worlds. With the fate of the universe at stake, it's up to the Doctor to save the day once again.
