Down East Dickering is a reality TV show that follows a group of Yankee traders as they hit the road in search of hidden treasures and unique finds in the backwoods of Maine. Season 1 episode 3 is titled "Not So Fast..." and takes viewers on a journey through the rugged terrain of Hancock County, where the Dickering crew encounters several unexpected challenges and setbacks.
The episode begins with Tony, Yummy, and Codfish heading out to meet a new trader named Lester, who has a unique collection of old license plates. The Dickering crew is hoping to buy a few plates for the shop, but when they arrive, they discover that Lester is a tough negotiator. He's not willing to part with his plates for cheap and demands top dollar for each one. On top of that, he's resistant to making deals with outsiders and doesn't trust the Dickering crew. This presents a major obstacle for Tony and his team, who need to convince Lester that they're serious about doing business.
Meanwhile, the other members of the Dickering crew are also facing their own challenges. Bruce and Paul are hunting for scrap metal in the woods, but they're having a hard time finding anything valuable. The weather is hot and humid, and the bugs are biting, making it difficult to stay focused. To make matters worse, their truck breaks down in the middle of the wilderness, leaving them stranded without a way to haul their scrap back to the shop. They're forced to call for backup and wait for Tony and his team to come to the rescue.
Back at the shop, Clint is struggling to sell a vintage motorcycle to a customer. The bike is in rough shape, and Clint knows he's asking too much for it. However, he's stubborn and refuses to budge on the price, even though the customer is clearly hesitant to make the purchase. Clint's pride gets in the way, and he ends up losing the sale altogether.
As the episode progresses, the different storylines begin to intersect. Tony and his team finally make a deal with Lester for a few license plates, but it's not easy. They have to work hard to gain his trust and show him that they're serious about doing business. Meanwhile, Bruce and Paul eventually get their truck fixed and haul their scrap back to the shop, but it's not as much as they'd hoped for. They make a small profit but feel discouraged by their lack of success.
In the end, the episode shows that Dickering isn't always easy, but it's a way of life for these Yankee traders. They're determined to make deals and find treasures, even when the odds are against them. "Not So Fast..." proves that persistence and hard work are key to success in the Dickering world.
