Ep 9. Head Over Heels

The couple was trying to watch over the feral cats in their neighborhood and had noticed that Mimosa was struggling to walk. After checking Mimosa, Dr. Jeff discovers her spinal cord is damaged, and she might be paralyzed. The diagnosis is heartbreaking to the couple since they already lost one kitten to a similar condition. Dr. Jeff tries to find the surgical option for their kitten, but when Mimosa's specialists arrive, the kitten is showing signs of improvement, which provides hope to all.

Later in the episode, Jeff and his team proceed to help a couple with their bird of prey, a golden eagle. The bird had been observed dealing with a mystery ailment. Dr. Jeff conducts a thorough examination on the eagle and concludes the bird has a severe injury to its eye, causing a condition called head tilt, making it unstable to fly. The clinic's ornithology consultant, Dee, helps Jeff with the case and advises that the eagle's retina is damaged, which requires some special surgical expertise in Denver.

Finally, Dr. Jeff and Petra embark on a speech at a local high school during their free time as part of Kentucky Humane Society's Pets in the Classroom program. They take over a biology class and teach the high school students about some of the topics covered in veterinary medicine. Dr. Jeff talks about the wide range of medical procedures, and Petra covers animal behavior and training.
