Ken at the Concert is the 17th episode of Dr. Ken's first season. This sitcom follows Ken Jeong as Dr. Ken Park, a brilliant physician with no bedside manner. Ken is married to the sweet and well-meaning Allison (Suzy Nakamura), with whom he shares two kids, Molly and Dave. The episode begins with Ken excitedly gearing up to see his favorite band, The Racktastics, live in concert. He's been a huge fan of the group since high school and is thrilled to finally have the chance to see them perform in person.
However, Ken's good mood is quickly soured when he realizes how difficult it is to get tickets to the show. After being scammed by a fake ticket vendor online, Ken eventually turns to his coworker Damona (Tisha Campbell-Martin) for help. Damona's connections in the music industry allow her to snag a pair of VIP passes, much to Ken's delight.
The bulk of the episode follows Ken's experiences at the concert. As expected, he's incredibly excited and thrilled to be so close to the band. However, all is not well when Allison and his kids unexpectedly show up at the concert too. Ken had neglected to tell Allison about the concert, and she's disappointed that he didn't include her in the plans. The couple has a heated argument in which Allison points out that Ken often overlooks her interests and activities in favor of his own hobbies.
Despite Alison's frustration, the family eventually settles in to enjoy the concert together. We see the various members of the Park family react to the music in their own ways - Molly is enthralled, Dave is uninterested, Allison is trying to keep her cool, and Ken is in his element. As they watch the concert, they also encounter various other characters from Dr. Ken's ensemble cast, including Ken's boss who is also a huge fan of The Racktastics.
Eventually, Ken and Allison reconcile, and the family enjoys the rest of the performance together. After the concert is over, Ken goes backstage to meet the band and is thrilled to find out that they're fans of his too - they've apparently been watching his online comedy videos and love his sense of humor. The episode ends with Ken sitting with the band, basking in the glow of his favorite musicians telling him how funny he is.
Ken at the Concert is a fun and lighthearted episode that shows a different side of the Parks - we see them outside of their usual workplace and home environments, and we get to see how they interact with each other in a more relaxed and fun setting. Despite the tension between him and Allison at the beginning of the episode, it's clear that Ken is ultimately a family man at heart and does care about including them in his life. The episode's climax, in which Ken meets his musical heroes and learns that they enjoy his work too, is a satisfying and uplifting conclusion to the story. Overall, this is an enjoyable episode that's sure to please fans of the series.
