Dr. Ken is a sitcom that revolves around the life of a physician named Ken (played by Ken Jeong) who is dealing with his family's antics while still trying to be the best doctor he can be. The show also touches on the cultural differences experienced by his family as well as his colleagues.
In season 2 episode 17, titled "Pat's Rash," Ken's best friend and office manager Pat (Dave Foley) comes into the office with a noticeable rash on his arm. Although Ken tries to diagnose Pat himself and prescribes him some cream, Pat starts to experience other symptoms and becomes increasingly worried.
Meanwhile, Ken's daughter Molly (Krista Marie Yu) is trying to prepare for her upcoming SAT exam but is struggling to stay focused. Ken's wife Allison (Suzy Nakamura), who also happens to be Molly's guidance counselor, tries to help her daughter study but keeps getting interrupted by Pat's medical emergency.
In addition to Pat's rash, Ken is also dealing with a difficult patient who wants to be euthanized due to severe pain. Ken struggles with the ethical dilemma and seeks advice from his colleagues, including his wife.
As the episode progresses, Pat's condition worsens, and Ken begins to suspect that his initial diagnosis was wrong. Ken is riddled with guilt as he realizes that he could have prevented Pat's worsening condition had he taken the proper steps from the beginning.
The episode ends on a touching note where Ken's family and colleagues rally around him, offering emotional support and reminding him that he is only human and cannot always have the answers to everything.
Overall, "Pat's Rash" is a heartwarming yet hilarious episode that deals with important issues such as medical ethics, friendship, and family support. The show's fantastic cast and witty writing make it an enjoyable watch for audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
