- August 19, 2009
Dude, What Would Happen is a popular reality television show in the United States that aired on Cartoon Network from August 19, 2009, to January 18, 2011, and featured three teens who conduct science experiments, stunts and challenges. The first episode of season 1 is entitled Underwater Roll / Defying Gravity / Pirates vs. Vikings.
In the episode Underwater Roll, the dudes create a giant hamster ball with a human inside who rolls under water. The contestant must try to run or walk as fast as they can inside the ball while it rolls underwater. This experiment tests their endurance and balance. First, they have to fill the ball with water and get it into the pool. Next, the contestant enters the ball and the countdown begins. Once the ball starts to roll, every move is important as the contestant tries to keep their footing and stay balanced while the water turns their world upside down.
In the next segment, Defying Gravity, the dudes build a contraption that tests human endurance and tests the limits of gravity-defying stunts. The contestants start with a zip line that takes them flying over a swamp. At the end of the zip line, they have to jump off of it onto a giant rubber band that launches them into the air. The contestants must perform several stunts while in the air - not the least of which is trying to land on a giant air-filled pillow! This segment tests the endurance, agility, and fearlessness of the contestants.
In the final segment, Pirates vs. Vikings, two teams are selected to compete in a giant raft race. The contestants build their own rafts with recycled materials and race them down a waterway while preparing for an epic water balloon fight along the way. The Vikings and Pirates race down the waterway in their homemade rafts while being bombarded by water balloons launched by their opponents. The winning team is determined by which of the two teams manages to get to the end of the waterway first while dodging the water balloons and incoming attacks from the other team. For the losers, there is the dramatic and challenging punishment of being tied up on the defeated raft and thrown into the water.
As a whole, the first episode of the show Dude, What Would Happen is full of exciting experiments and tests that are safe and wildly entertaining. The three teens who conduct science experiments, stunts, and challenges are enthusiastic and funny - making the show a great experience for everyone. With each segment lasting about 15 to 20 minutes, the show keeps you engaged with every twist and turn. The show promotes the belief that science and engineering can be both entertaining and educational. People who enjoy adventurous activities and experiments will love this show.
