Ep 21. The Getaway

Ray and Deborah decide to take a weekend getaway to celebrate their anniversary. They leave the kids with Frank and Marie and set off for a bed and breakfast in Vermont. However, their plans go awry when they discover that the bed and breakfast is more like a rundown motel.

Despite the less-than-ideal accommodations, Ray and Deborah try to make the most of their weekend away by engaging in some outdoor activities, like hiking and bird watching. However, they quickly realize they are not as outdoorsy as they thought they were and end up getting lost in the woods.

Meanwhile, back at the Barone household, Frank and Marie struggle to handle the kids. Ally is upset because she hasn't heard from her parents and takes it out on her brothers. Michael and Geoffrey are constantly fighting and causing chaos around the house, making it difficult for Frank and Marie to keep their cool.

As the weekend goes on, Ray and Deborah continue to struggle in Vermont, growing more and more frustrated with their lack of outdoor skills and the rundown motel they are staying in. They argue about their different expectations for the trip and begin to see each other's flaws more clearly.

Back at home, Frank and Marie finally get a hold of Ray and Deborah and try to reassure them that everything is fine with the kids. However, their attempts to give updates only make Ray and Deborah worry more, since they can hear the chaos in the background.

In the end, Ray and Deborah make it back home, tired and worn out from their weekend. They realize that their relationship is not perfect, but that they still love each other despite their flaws. And, even though they didn't have the perfect weekend away, they appreciate their time alone together and the memories they made.
