Ep 2. No Roll!

In Everybody Loves Raymond Season 6 Episode 2, Ray decides to take a break from making meatballs and take a stab at another family recipe, lasagna. The episode begins with Ray sorting through family recipes in his mother's old cookbook. He inevitably comes across his grandmother's lasagna recipe and decides to give it a shot.

However, Ray quickly realizes that making lasagna is much more complicated than making meatballs. Debra offers to help, but Ray – as always – insists on doing it all himself. As he begins to gather the ingredients, he realizes that he doesn't have any lasagna noodles. He enlists Robert to run to the store for him and, when he returns, they get to work.

As they start to put the lasagna together, Ray realizes that he has made a critical mistake – he forgot to boil the noodles first. He decides that he can just layer them in the pan without cooking them, but Debra quickly points out that the lasagna will be a disaster if he doesn't cook the noodles first.

Desperate for a solution, Ray decides to improvise – using leftover spaghetti from the night before in place of the lasagna noodles. As he layers the spaghetti in the pan, Debra and Robert warn him that it's not going to work, but he continues on.

The lasagna is finally ready to put in the oven, but as they go to lift it, everything falls apart. The spaghetti has turned into a mushy mess, and Ray's lasagna dreams are shattered.

Feeling defeated, Ray orders pizza for dinner, much to the disappointment of his parents. However, Marie decides to take matters into her own hands and make her own lasagna. Of course, she has to rub it in Ray's face that hers turned out perfectly – a fact that Ray can't handle.

As the episode comes to a close, Ray comes to terms with the fact that he's not a master chef and that it's okay to not be perfect all the time. After all, sometimes it's just easier to order pizza.
