Fate/Apocrypha is a Japanese anime television series produced by A-1 Pictures and directed by Yoshiyuki Asai. The series is based on the light novel Fate/Apocrypha by Yuichiro Higashide and features a spin-off of the Fate/stay night series by Type-Moon. It was first aired in Japan in July 2017 and lasted until December. The anime has a total of 25 episodes and is available on several streaming platforms, including Netflix.

The show takes place in an alternate universe where the Holy Grail War is fought between two factions rather than seven. The two factions are the Red and the Black factions, each having their own unique sets of characters with their own motivations and abilities.

The story begins with the theft of the Holy Grail by the Black Faction, which prompts the Red Faction to summon their own team of seven Servants to engage in battle, with the winner being the first to claim the Holy Grail. The Servants are powerful beings, each representing a hero or mythical figure from history or legend. The twist to this particular war is that instead of the traditional one-on-one battles, multiple Servants engage in battle at the same time, making the battles much more chaotic and unpredictable.

The main protagonist of the series is Sieg, a homunculus created by the Black Faction who was saved by the Servant of the Red Faction, Jeanne d'Arc. Sieg becomes involved in the conflict, helping the Red Faction in their quest to retrieve the Holy Grail from the Black Faction. Along the way, he forms bonds with several of the Red Faction's Servants, including Saber of Black, Mordred, and Rider of Red.

The series also features a large and diverse cast of characters, each with their own unique personalities and motivations. Some of the other notable characters include Ruler, a neutral Servant who acts as a mediator between the two factions, Archer of Black, a sadistic mage who seeks to gain power through the Holy Grail War, and Caster of Red, a mage who uses her powers to manipulate the battle in favor of the Red Faction.

The animation and fight scenes of Fate/Apocrypha are nothing short of spectacular, with each Servant's abilities and fighting style being depicted in a unique and visually stunning way. The battles are intense and action-packed, and the sheer number of Servants involved in each fight keeps the viewer on their toes as they try to keep up with the chaos.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the series is the way it explores the motivations and relationships of the characters. Each character has their own reasons for joining the Holy Grail War, and their interactions with each other provide a fascinating look at how different personalities and ideologies clash and come together in times of conflict.

Overall, Fate/Apocrypha is an excellent addition to the Fate/stay night series that is sure to satisfy fans of the franchise and newcomers alike. The animation is beautiful, the characters are engaging, and the story is full of twists and turns that keep the viewer on the edge of their seat. Whether you're a fan of anime, action, or just good storytelling, Fate/Apocrypha is definitely worth checking out.
