Four In A Bed
Season 6

Ep 13. Edmund House

  • March 26, 2014

In the thirteenth episode of season six of Four in a Bed, the competitors head to Edmund House, a luxurious bed and breakfast located in Somerset. The owners, Nicki and Clive, are both retired business owners who have renovated the property to a high standard. The guests are welcomed by Nicki, who shows them to their rooms - a mixture of double and twin rooms, all with their own en-suite bathrooms. The decor is eclectic, with a mix of antique furniture and modern touches.

The first day starts with a breakfast challenge, where the competitors must prepare and serve a breakfast dish of their choice for the other B&B owners. Nicki and Clive serve up a full English breakfast, complete with homemade sausages and black pudding, while some of the other competitors opt for lighter options such as fruit salad and yogurt. There are some disagreements over the presentation of the dishes, with some guests feeling that the breakfasts were not served to a high enough standard.

After breakfast, the competitors are free to explore the local area. Some opt for a walk in the countryside, while others head to the nearby town of Glastonbury to check out the sites. In the afternoon, the guests are treated to a cream tea, complete with homemade scones and jam, as well as a selection of teas and coffees.

For dinner, Nicki and Clive take the competitors out for a meal at a local restaurant. The contestants discuss the day's activities and reflect on their experiences so far. After dinner, they return to Edmund House for a nightcap and a good night's sleep.

The second day begins with the room inspection challenge. The competitors are split into pairs and sent to inspect each other's rooms, looking for any cleanliness or maintenance issues. Nicki and Clive's rooms are praised for their cleanliness and attention to detail, although there are some minor issues with the other B&B's rooms.

After the room inspections, the guests head out for a day of sightseeing. They visit a local cider farm for a tasting session, and then head to Cheddar Gorge for a guided tour and some lunch. In the evening, they return to Edmund House for dinner, where Nicki and Clive have prepared a three-course meal.

On the final day, the guests must pay their bill and leave a review of their stay. The reviews are then read out by Nicki and Clive, who respond to any criticisms or comments made by the guests. There are some differing opinions on the overall quality of the stay, with some guests feeling that the luxury amenities came at too high a price, while others were happy to pay for the high standard of service.

Finally, the winner of the week is announced, based on the scores given by the other contestants. The winner is awarded a plaque and the pride of having been voted the best B&B of the week. All in all, the guests have had a memorable stay at Edmund House and enjoyed the opportunity to meet and compete with other B&B owners from around the country.
