Four More Shots Please! is a popular Indian web series that revolves around the lives of four young women who try to navigate through the challenges of life, love, and career while living in Mumbai. In season 3 episode 7 named 'Mirror Mirror on the wall', the plot revolves around the transformation of one of the principal characters, Damini, who has undergone a significant physical change.
The episode begins with Damini (played by Sayani Gupta) receiving a phone call from an unknown person who asks if she is interested in doing a photoshoot. She initially brushes it off, but when she realizes that she has been nominated for an award, she decides to give the shoot a chance. Damini, who was known for her signature messy hair and oversized clothes, decides to go for a makeover for the photoshoot. She goes to a stylist who changes her entire look, does her hair smooth and sleek with perfectly done make-up.
The new look is a hit amongst the girl gang. Everybody is surprised by the transformation of Damini. It's almost like she is a different person. One of her friends, Siddhi (played by Maanvi Gagroo), who is already insecure about her appearance, feels threatened by it. She confides in her therapist that she feels like she has to do something drastic to be noticed by men. The therapist recommends low-intensity makeovers to help her with her self-image.
Samara (played by Lisa Ray) has a minor crisis when she realizes that she can't remember anything that happened the previous night. She is beyond embarrassed and ashamed of her situation and turns to her friends for help. They suggest she sees a therapist, but it is not an option she is willing to consider. What she does instead is to hit a stranger she met at a bar and vent out her frustrations.
As for Anjana (played by Kirti Kulhari), she is up in arms because she lost a case she had been working on for months. Her frustration levels are on the high, forcing her to break some furniture in her house as a way of venting out. Her daughter sees her, and it helps her realize that her problems aren't the worst in the world.
'Mirror Mirror on the wall" manages to weave together each of their stories in a way that keeps the audience engaged. It's a classic portrayal of the bond between the girl gang, complete with their inevitable squabbles. The women are shown as fearless in their own little ways and have no qualms about airing their grievances. As they go through their different struggles, the girls remind us that sometimes seeking out the help of friends might be the best thing you can do for yourself.
