Britannia is a British historical fantasy drama television series created by Jez Butterworth for Amazon. The show is set in Britain in AD 43 and tells the story of the Roman invasion of Britain and the resistance put up by the Celtic tribes. The show features an ensemble cast including David Morrissey, Kelly Reilly, Zoë Wanamaker, and Mackenzie Crook.

David Morrissey stars as Aulus Plautius, the Roman General tasked with leading the invasion of Britain. Morrissey delivers a commanding performance, portraying a man who is confident and ruthless, yet still vulnerable. He is constantly trying to maintain control over his army and trying to outsmart his opponents, both on and off the battlefield.

Kelly Reilly plays Kerra, the daughter of the King of the Cantii tribe who is trying to unite the Celtic tribes against the Roman invasion. Reilly gives an excellent performance as a strong and determined leader who is willing to do whatever it takes to protect her people. She also has a personal vendetta against the Romans, making her character all the more interesting.

Zoë Wanamaker plays Queen Antedia, the leader of the Regni tribe and ally of the Cantii tribe. Wanamaker portrays Antedia as a complex character who is torn between her loyalty to her people and her desire for power. She makes for a formidable opponent for both the Romans and the Cantii tribe.

The show does an excellent job of creating a fantastical world that blends both history and mythology. The characters are all given their own unique backstories and motivations, making them feel like real people rather than just caricatures. The show also has a distinctive visual style, with vibrant colors and sweeping landscapes that give the show a dreamlike quality.

One of the standout aspects of Britannia is its use of music. The show features an eclectic soundtrack that ranges from traditional Celtic music to contemporary rock. The music is used to great effect, adding to the show's mystical atmosphere and making it feel like a modern-day fairy tale.

Overall, Britannia is a highly engaging and entertaining show that is a visual feast for the eyes. The show's talented cast and creative team have crafted a world that is both immersive and captivating. The show is sure to appeal to fans of historical dramas, epic fantasy, and everything in between.
