Ep 2. Boy II Man

In Fresh Off the Boat season 2 episode 2, titled "Boy II Man," the Huang family continues to navigate their new life in Orlando. Eddie is starting to feel like more of a man and wants a new name to reflect that, but his parents aren't so sure. Meanwhile, Jessica takes advantage of the increased demand for Chinese food in the neighborhood by opening up her own restaurant.

As the episode begins, Eddie is feeling like he's outgrown his childhood nickname "Easy." He thinks that a change in name will help him finally feel like a man. He initially wants to change his name to "Ace," but quickly realizes that all of the cool kid names are already taken. He turns to his dad for advice, who suggests he choose a name that's more meaningful than just a cool nickname. Eddie decides on "Edward," which was his grandfather's name.

While Eddie is struggling to find his identity, Jessica is determined to capitalize on the newfound popularity of Chinese food in their neighborhood. She's been unhappy with her job at the local steakhouse and sees an opportunity to open up her own restaurant. She enlists the help of her sons and husband to create a menu, come up with a name, and decorate the space. The boys are excited to help out, but Louis is hesitant to invest too much money into the venture.

The pressure of opening a new restaurant starts to take its toll on Jessica, and she ends up accidentally starting a fire in the kitchen. Despite the setback, she's determined to open up the restaurant on time. The night of the opening, the restaurant is filled with people eager to try the new Chinese cuisine. However, things quickly start to go wrong. The waitstaff is overwhelmed, the kitchen is chaotic, and Jessica is forced to improvise to make things work.

Meanwhile, Eddie is struggling to get his new name to catch on. His friends at school aren't taking him seriously, and his family keeps accidentally calling him "Easy." He starts to feel frustrated and unfulfilled, and wonders if changing his name was a mistake.

As the episode draws to a close, Jessica's restaurant is a success despite the hurdles she faced. Eddie discovers that freeing himself from his childhood nickname won't instantly make him feel like a man, but it's a step in the right direction. The family comes together over a celebratory dinner at the restaurant and reflects on the challenges they've faced in their new life in Orlando.
