Eddie's relationship with Alison has got over the initial phase and they have become good friends. Eddie enthusiastically tells his mother that he is going to her apartment to study. However, she misunderstands the entire plan thinking that Eddie is going to Alison's apartment to spend the night. Shocked, she immediately tells Louis.

On the other hand, Jessica is approached by her sister Connie, who wants to spend some time with her. Initially, Jessica is hesitant and doubtful, since Connie has always been better at everything and with more success than her. However, she finally agrees and the duo starts enjoying each other's company.

Randall Park and Constance Wu essay the roles of Louis Huang and Jessica Huang, while Hudson Yang and Rachel Khoo play the teenagers, Eddie and Alison. This season has brought back the Huang family with their quirky and relatable ways.

The concept of the show revolves around the lives of the Huang family, who are Taiwanese Americans, set in the 90s in a suburb in Orlando. The third season aired in 2016 and had 23 episodes. It delves deeper into the lives of the family, the dynamic of their relationships and their individual struggles.

The episode is titled 'Sisters Without Subtext' and it focuses on the relationship of Jessica with her sister Connie. Jessica's intricate backstory and her problems with her family have been explored throughout the series. It is revealed that she has always been overshadowed by her sisters' success, and her own lack of it. In this episode, viewers see a different side of the brothers – Connie and Jessica. Connie visits Jessica for a few days and they begin to explore their sisterhood without any baggage.

The episode, like all others in the series, is peppered with humor that ranges from slapstick to witty one-liners. The series creates a perfect balance with the humor and the plot.

The storyline of Eddie and Alison's relationship is given equal importance in the episode. Eddie is disheartened when he hears that Alison might leave the school. He gets emotional and starts to act out in his typical teenage manner. Eddie and his mother have an argument and viewers get to see a slice of reality where the relationship between a mother and son is not always perfect.

The episode focuses on Jessica and Connie rediscovering each other. Eddie and Alison's storyline is a continuation of the previous episodes and will lead up to the finale of the season. The series remains true to its core premise of a family's life in the 90s, with the struggles and joys of growing up and the not-so-perfect yet relatable relationships. The Huang family's dynamics of love, humor and support towards each other, still make it an entertaining and feel-good show.

The episode is a mix of emotions, with undertones of nostalgia and relatability. Eddie and Alison's chemistry is explored in parallel to Jessica and Connie's reunion, where the latter helps Jessica realize that she has always been successful at being herself. The show's third season has been lauded for its realism and the way it explores the challenges of growing up in a mixed cultural background.

Overall, 'Sisters Without Subtext' is a perfect example of the series' ability to take everyday situations and intertwine them with a healthy dose of humor, making them all the more relatable. It stands testament to how well the show has managed to keep the viewers invested in the characters' lives.
