The show Fresh Off the Boat is a comedy series that follows the story of a Taiwanese family who moves from Chinatown in Washington, D.C. to Orlando, Florida. The Huang family face various challenges in their new environment as they try to adapt to new cultural differences, including the issue of race and identity.

In episode 18 of season 4, "Measure Twice, Cut Once," the Huang family is faced with a major home renovation project that tests their patience and problem-solving skills. Jessica (Constance Wu) and Louis (Randall Park) decide to renovate the kitchen after realizing that their current kitchen is outdated and inconvenient. However, the project does not go as smoothly as they had hoped.

Jessica and Louis enlist the help of their neighbor and handyman, Honey's (Chelsey Crisp) husband, Marvin (Ray Wise), to help with the renovation. Marvin, who is eager to use his handyman skills, quickly takes over the project and disregards Louis and Jessica's wishes. He makes expensive and unnecessary changes to the kitchen, including installing a high-end refrigerator, luxury countertops, and a fancy backsplash.

Jessica becomes frustrated with the changes and the rising costs of the renovation. She tells Marvin to stop the construction and demands that they all sit down to discuss the project. Jessica and Louis realize that they need to establish clear communication with Marvin about their vision for the kitchen. They make it clear that they want a simple, functional kitchen that is within their budget.

Meanwhile, Eddie (Hudson Yang) is trying to win over his crush, Alison (Isabella Alexander), who is obsessed with a popular rapper. Eddie decides to impress her by making her a mixtape using the rapper's songs. However, when Alison reveals that her favorite song is one that Eddie left off the mixtape, he decides to go above and beyond to win her over.

Eddie decides to organize a surprise performance at the school talent show, where he will sing the rapper's hit song that Alison loves. He enlists the help of his friends, Trent (Trevor Larcom) and Dave (Evan Hannemann), to perform with him. The three of them spend hours rehearsing, even though Trent and Dave are reluctant to perform. They eventually agree to take part in the performance, and the trio delivers an unforgettable performance at the talent show.

In conclusion, "Measure Twice, Cut Once" is a hilarious and heartwarming episode that showcases the Huang family's ability to work together to overcome challenges. The episode highlights the importance of communication and compromise in relationships, as well as the power of friendship and determination in achieving one's goals.
