The episode titled "Kids" starts off with a flashback to when the Huang family first moved to Orlando. Eddie, the middle child, is feeling lonely and isolated as he tries to navigate through his new school, which he finds to be vastly different from his old school in Washington D.C. Back in the present day, Eddie is approached by the school counselor who believes that Eddie is struggling in school and recommends that he participate in a mentorship program with an older student.

Meanwhile, Jessica, Eddie's mother, is trying to find a charity event to attend so she can network and further her real estate business. After having no luck finding an event that suits her, she decides to create her own charity drive, called the "Love a Tree" campaign. She rallies the family to help out, but they are all reluctant to participate, except for Evan, the youngest child, who is a bit too enthusiastic about the idea.

Jessica's "Love a Tree" campaign ends up coinciding with Eddie's mentorship program, making it harder for her to manage both things at once. Eddie is partnered with a senior named Albert, whom he initially finds boring. But Albert surprises Eddie by showing him how cool and fun science can be, which reignites Eddie's interest in the subject.

Eddie is not the only one to benefit from the mentorship program. Emery, the oldest Huang child, is also struggling with his history project and ends up getting paired with his crush, a senior girl named Gigi. At first, Emery tries to impress her with stories of his travels, but ends up realizing that he needs to be true to his own experiences and heritage. He ends up sharing a family recipe with Gigi, which she loves, and they bond over their shared love of food.

Meanwhile, Jessica's "Love a Tree" campaign hits a snag when she realizes that no one is donating money. She enlists the help of Honey, her best friend, to make the campaign go viral, but it ends up backfiring when the campaign is deemed insensitive to the plight of actual trees. In the end, Jessica learns a valuable lesson about sincerity versus marketing, and decides to donate money to a real environmental charity.

The episode ends with Eddie, Emery, and Evan all bonding over their newfound passions. Eddie is excited about science, Emery is excited about embracing his heritage, and Evan continues to be enthusiastic about the "Love a Tree" campaign, even though it didn't turn out as planned.

Overall, "Kids" is a heartwarming episode that shows each member of the Huang family learning an important lesson about themselves and their values. It's also great to see the family continue to adapt to life in Orlando and the challenges that come with it.
