In the fourth episode of season six of Fresh off the Boat titled "S'mothered," the Huang family is faced with the challenges of growing up and letting go. Jessica, the ever-present and overbearing mother, is forced to confront the reality that her oldest son, Eddie, is no longer a child and is becoming independent. Meanwhile, Eddie struggles with his own desire for independence while facing the pressures of being a high school student.

The episode begins with Jessica preparing Eddie's breakfast for him, only to realize that he is already dressed and ready to go to school. Jessica is taken aback, as she is used to controlling every aspect of Eddie's life, including his morning routine. When Eddie reminds her that he is a teenager and can take care of himself, Jessica is hurt and feels like she is no longer needed by her son.

At school, Eddie is faced with the reality of being a high school student. He is assigned a group project with his friends Trent and Dave, but realizes that their work ethic is not up to par with his own. Eddie takes charge and suggests that they work on the project at his house, only to face the challenge of hiding his family's Chinese restaurant from his friends.

Meanwhile, Jessica is struggling to come to terms with the fact that her baby boy is growing up. She confides in her friend Honey about her worries, but Honey tells her that she needs to give Eddie space and let him grow up on his own. Jessica is resistant at first, but eventually realizes that she needs to trust Eddie to make his own decisions.

Back at the Huang household, Eddie's project with Trent and Dave is not going well. Trent and Dave are more interested in playing video games than working on the project, causing tensions to rise between them and Eddie. Jessica enters the room and suggests that she help with the project, causing Eddie to feel embarrassed and frustrated with his mother's constant hovering.

Despite their disagreements, Eddie and Jessica are able to come to a compromise. Eddie expresses his desire for independence, but also recognizes the importance of his mother's support. Jessica, in turn, realizes that she needs to let go of some of her control and allow Eddie to grow and make mistakes on his own.

The episode ends with the Huang family coming together to enjoy a meal at the restaurant. Eddie, now more independent and confident in his abilities, proudly shows off his completed project to his family.

Overall, "S'mothered" is a relatable and heartwarming episode that explores the challenges of growing up and letting go of control. It is a reminder that even the strongest relationships require compromise and trust to thrive.
