Tohru Honda is a high school student who is living in a tent after her mother's death. She is invited to live in the house of her classmate Yuki and his cousin Shigure but soon discovers that they are part of a mysterious family who turns into animals of the Chinese zodiac when hugged by someone of the opposite gender.

In episode 2 of season 2, titled "I Wouldn't Say That," we follow Tohru as she continues to navigate the complexities of the Sohma family and their curse. She learns more about Kyo Sohma, the cursed cat, as she witnesses his strained relationship with Yuki, the cursed rat. Despite their animosity towards each other, Tohru tries to bring them closer together and bridge the gap between them.

Meanwhile, the Sohma family begins to prepare for their annual New Year's banquet, where all the members of the family gather together. However, tensions rise when Akito Sohma, the head of the family, expresses displeasure with the preparations and demands that they be improved. Akito is known for being controlling and volatile, and the other members of the family fear their wrath.

As preparations continue, Tohru and her friends are assigned different tasks to help. Tohru is tasked with making kabocha no nimono, a Japanese pumpkin dish, but runs into trouble when she accidentally drops the pumpkin. She becomes dejected and feels like she has failed, but her friends encourage her to keep trying and not give up.

Throughout the episode, we see flashbacks of past New Year's banquets and the strained relationships within the Sohma family. These flashbacks provide more insight into the characters and their motivations, as well as the depth of their pain and suffering.

As the banquet gets underway, tensions continue to rise and the Sohma family members become increasingly anxious. Tohru tries to calm them down and remind them of the importance of family and unity. In the midst of all the chaos, Kyo unexpectedly saves Tohru from falling and the two share a tender moment.

Overall, "I Wouldn't Say That" is a compelling episode that delves further into the complex relationships and history of the Sohma family. It also highlights Tohru's unwavering kindness and determination to bring people together, even in the face of adversity. Fans of Fruits Basket will no doubt be eager to see what happens next as the series continues to unfold.
