Ep 43. Bite of the Ant

As Edward and Scar continue their fight against the Homunculi, finding the philosopher's stone becomes their top priority. Meanwhile, the military is devising ways to counter the Homunculi's transmutation abilities. Mustang enlists the help of Hawkeye's father to develop a new type of weapon, but the plan takes an unexpected turn when they are attacked by a pack of chimera led by one of the Homunculi, Gluttony. In the midst of the chaos, Hawkeye and Mustang get separated from the rest of the group and must work together to fight their way back to safety.

Back in Central City, the battle between Father and Hohenheim continues, with both using their massive powers to try and gain the upper hand. However, their fight is quickly interrupted when they are swarmed by a massive group of mutated ants run amok, having been driven to madness by the Homunculi's influence. The group realizes that the ants are not simply mutated, but have been created through alchemy, specifically the same alchemy used to create the Homunculi themselves.

As the battle against the ants intensifies, the group soon discovers that Scar's brother, who had previously worked for the military, had been the one to create the creatures using his alchemy skills before being turned into a philosopher's stone. The group manages to take down the ants and finally make it back to safety, but not before being forced to confront the harsh realities of using alchemy for one's own gain.

Bite of the Ant is an action-packed episode that brings to light the dangers of recklessly using alchemy.
