Ep 7. The Festival of Living Art

Lorelai and Rory attend The Festival of Living Art, an event where citizens of Stars Hollow dress up as paintings and freeze in place to recreate famous works of art. The girls have a great time taking in the sights, and chatting with their quirky neighbors. Lorelai is particularly charmed by the actor playing Bacchus, who seems to have a thing for her. Meanwhile, Rory bumps into Dean, her ex-boyfriend, who is now married and has an infant daughter.

As the festival progresses, the performers begin to tire from standing still for hours on end. The actor playing La Pieta collapses from exhaustion, and backup performers need to be called in to fill the gaps. Lorelai pulls some strings to get Luke to participate in the festival, but he is less than thrilled about having to pose in costume for hours on end. Rory is also less than impressed when she finds out that the actress playing Ophelia, her favorite painting, is actually Paris, her rival at Yale.

As the festival comes to an end, Lorelai meets up with the Bacchus actor, only to find out that he is actually a college student named Trevor. Despite the age difference, Lorelai finds herself attracted to him and they share a passionate kiss. Meanwhile, Rory finds herself spending more time with Dean, and begins to question her feelings for him. She also realizes that she does not want to become like some of the other performers at the festival, stuck in one place and unable to move forward.

In the end, Lorelai decides to pursue a relationship with Trevor, and Luke forgives her for pulling him into the festival. Rory decides to move on from Dean and focus on her studies, although she still has some lingering feelings for him. As the town packs up the festival and life returns to normal in Stars Hollow, the Gilmore Girls reflect on their experiences and look forward to what the future holds.
