Ep 18. Kids Say the Darndest Things

In Girlfriends season 5 episode 18, entitled "Kids Say the Darndest Things," the four friends, Joan, Maya, Lynn, and Toni, plan to attend a charity event together, but they each have their own difficulties with their children.

Joan is struggling to bond with her nephew, Todd, who is staying with her for the summer. Despite her efforts to spend time with him and show him a good time, Todd seems uninterested and dismissive of her. Meanwhile, Maya is having trouble with her daughter Jabari, who is growing up too quickly and pushing boundaries. Maya becomes worried about Jabari's increasingly sexual behavior and decides to address the issue head-on.

Lynn is grappling with the realization that her son, Davis, may not be academically gifted. After Davis asks for help with his algebra homework, Lynn realizes that he is struggling with even the most basic concepts. She fears that her unconventional parenting style has hindered his education and begins to seek out a tutor to help him catch up.

Lastly, Toni struggles with the fact that her daughter, Morgan, is growing up without a father figure in her life. Morgan becomes fascinated with a male barber who comes to their house to cut Toni's hair and begins to emulate his mannerisms and language. Toni becomes uncomfortable with Morgan's infatuation and worries about the implications of her daughter growing up without a father.

Despite their individual challenges, the girlfriends come together to support each other as they navigate the ups and downs of parenting. In the end, they realize that being a mother is a constant learning experience and that they are all doing their best to raise their children.
