Jimmy Martino is an attractive and successful restaurant owner in Los Angeles. Little does he know that his life is about to change drastically when he learns that he has a grown-up son named Gerald, whom he had no idea existed. Gerald shows up at Jimmy's restaurant looking for answers about his mother and his father, and Jimmy is shocked to find out that he is a grandfather to a cute little girl named Edie.

As Jimmy comes to terms with the fact that he has a son and a granddaughter, he also learns that his restaurant is about to be reviewed by a food blogger named Ravi Patel. Jimmy is determined to impress Ravi and get a great review, but things don't quite go as planned when Gerald invites himself to dinner with Jimmy and Ravi. The evening quickly turns into chaos as Jimmy tries to impress Ravi with his culinary skills, while also trying to bond with Gerald and his granddaughter.

Meanwhile, Jimmy's ex-girlfriend Sara, who is also Gerald's mother, shows up unexpectedly at the restaurant. Sara is not thrilled to find out that Jimmy is a grandfather, and their past relationship makes things even more awkward between them.

Throughout the episode, we see Jimmy struggle to balance his successful career with his newfound family responsibilities. He is torn between wanting to be a good grandfather to Edie and wanting to maintain his carefree bachelor lifestyle. Despite the challenges, Jimmy begins to realize that having a family is more rewarding than he ever could have imagined.

The pilot episode of Grandfathered sets the stage for an entertaining and heartwarming sitcom about family, love, and second chances. John Stamos delivers a charming and charismatic performance as Jimmy, and the supporting cast, including Josh Peck as Gerald and Paget Brewster as Sara, bring their own unique comedic flair to the show.
