Ep 15. The Biter

Jimmy Martino may be a swaggering former bachelor who spent years living the high life, but things are different now. When Jimmy discovers that he has a son he never knew about, he suddenly realizes that his life is missing something. In Season 1, Episode 15 of Grandfathered, titled "The Biter," Jimmy's newfound sense of responsibility is put to the test when he must deal with Gerald, Edie's teenage nephew.

Gerald is a bit of a wild child. He's gotten into trouble at school and has a reputation for biting people. When Edie is called out of town for a few days, Gerald is left in Jimmy's care, and Jimmy is unsure of how to handle the situation. He's used to dealing with adults, not teenagers. Adding to the pressure, Jimmy has a big date planned with his new girlfriend, Sara.

Jimmy tries to bribe Gerald into behaving by offering him a gift certificate to a fancy restaurant, but the plan fails miserably when Gerald bites the waiter and ruins the evening. At the end of his rope, Jimmy decides to take Gerald to the boxing gym where he works out. There, they meet Bobby, a young boxer with a troubled past. Bobby and Gerald quickly bond over their shared love of fighting.

Jimmy is pleased that Gerald has found a positive outlet for his aggression, but he begins to worry when he discovers that Bobby is his daughter's ex-boyfriend. Jimmy doesn't have a problem with Bobby, but his daughter Vanessa is another story. When Jimmy tells Vanessa about Gerald's new friendship, she reacts angrily, and Jimmy is forced to choose between keeping his promise to Gerald and keeping the peace with Vanessa.

Meanwhile, Sara is having her own problems. She's worried that Jimmy is still hung up on his ex-girlfriend, and she decides to take matters into her own hands. She shows up at Jimmy's house unannounced, hoping to catch him in the act of pining for his ex. Instead, she finds Jimmy and Gerald bonding over boxing, and she's immediately smitten with Jimmy's nurturing side.

As the episode comes to a close, Jimmy finds himself in the middle of a difficult situation. He wants to support Gerald's friendship with Bobby, but he also wants to mend his relationship with Vanessa. At the same time, he must navigate his own complicated romantic life. "The Biter" is an episode that highlights the challenges of parenthood and the importance of maintaining strong relationships with family and loved ones.
