Ep 1. Pilot

Dr. Zoe Hart is a young, ambitious doctor from New York who dreams of becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon like her father. When she is unexpectedly turned down for the fellowship program she had applied for, Zoe decides to take up an offer from her long-absent father's friend Harley Wilkes to come work with him at his medical practice in Bluebell, Alabama.

Upon her arrival in Bluebell, Zoe quickly realizes that life in the small town is vastly different from what she's used to up north. She is greeted with skepticism and mistrust by many of the locals, who are wary of an outsider coming in to provide medical care. The town's mayor, Lavon Hayes, tells her outright that he doesn't believe she has what it takes to succeed as a small-town doctor.

To make matters worse, Zoe finds out that Harley has passed away, leaving her his half of the practice - which she soon discovers is a run-down, dilapidated shack. She is tempted to leave and return to New York, but decides to stick it out and try to make a go of it in Bluebell.

Throughout the episode, Zoe grapples with the challenges of adapting to a new environment - from coping with the stifling Southern heat to dealing with the quirks of her patients. She is helped along the way by quirky local Wade Kinsella, who provides her with both medical assistance and a friendly ear.

As the episode comes to a close, Zoe realizes that she may have found a new home in Bluebell - and that she may be beginning to fall for the town's rugged, handsome lawyer, George Tucker. But her future in Bluebell is uncertain, as she learns that Harley's daughter, Lemon Breeland, wants to sell her father's half of the practice to a large medical corporation.

Will Zoe find a way to save the practice - and herself? Only time will tell in the charming and heartwarming world of Hart of Dixie.
