Zoe Hart is having a difficult time in Bluebell. She has not yet adjusted to the southern small-town lifestyle and is struggling to fit in with the locals. However, when Lavon's former high school football teammate, a professional quarterback, visits Bluebell, Zoe finally sees a way to fit in.
The town is in a frenzy as they prepare for the Bluebell Battle Reenactment, which takes place every year in honor of the Civil War anniversary. Zoe is volunteered to lead the medical team, which puts her in contact with the quarterback, Jesse. Jesse is in town for the weekend to pay tribute to his grandfather, who fought and died in the Civil War.
As Zoe works with Jesse, she begins to feel more at home in Bluebell. They bond over their shared love of football, and she even teaches him a few tricks. However, as the weekend goes by, Zoe starts to realize that Jesse is not as perfect as he seems.
Meanwhile, Lemon is still reeling from the recent revelation about her mother, and her relationship with George is on shaky ground. They try to get back on track by attending a couples' retreat, but things only seem to get worse. Lavon is dealing with his own relationship woes when his ex-girlfriend Ruby returns to Bluebell.
As the Battle Reenactment gets underway, tensions are high. Jesse is set to play quarterback for the opposing team, putting him in direct competition with Lavon. Zoe realizes that she has feelings for Jesse, but her loyalty to Lavon is tested.
At the end of the weekend, Bluebell is in high spirits, and the Battle Reenactment is a success. Jesse leaves town, but not before he and Zoe share a moment. Lemon and George decide to take a break from each other, and Lavon and Ruby agree to take things slow.
Overall, "Tributes & Triangles" is an episode that explores the relationships between the characters and their efforts to find their place in Bluebell. It is a lighthearted episode filled with humor and heart, and it sets the stage for the rest of the season.
