Brendon, Melissa, and Jason are back for another hilarious episode of Home Movies. In "The Art of the Sucker Punch," the trio decide to make a kung fu movie for their upcoming film festival. After watching a Bruce Lee movie, they are inspired to create their own martial arts masterpiece.
Brendon takes on the lead role of the kung fu master, while Melissa plays the damsel in distress and Jason is the villain. They begin practicing their fight scenes in the park, much to the confusion of the other park-goers. Jason's over-the-top villain character proves to be too much for Brendon and Melissa to handle, and they begin to lose confidence in their abilities.
Meanwhile, Brendon's mom, Paula, is dealing with her own drama. She has hired a new exterminator to rid their house of pests, but becomes suspicious when he seems more interested in her than the bugs. Despite Paula's insistence that he focus on the task at hand, the exterminator continues to flirt with her and make suggestive comments.
Back at the park, Brendon and Melissa enlist the help of a real martial arts expert to give them some pointers. With their new knowledge, they go back to filming their fight scenes. However, things quickly go wrong when Jason takes things too far and accidentally injures Brendon. With their kung fu dream in danger, the trio must come up with a new plan.
Eventually, they decide to switch up the roles and have Melissa take on the lead as the kung fu master. With some creative editing and special effects, they are able to create an epic fight scene that even impresses Paula. In the end, they successfully complete their kung fu movie and are ready to show it off at the film festival.
