Brendon, the protagonist of the show, has a big event to look forward to – the Halloween party. He is very excited about it, as are his friends Melissa and Jason. He has everything planned down to a tee, including a plan to scare Melissa by pretending to be a vampire, which Jason agrees to go along with.

Brendon’s mother, Paula, is also looking forward to the party, as she is hoping to catch the eye of a new man who is going to be attending. She enlists the help of Brendon to make her a costume, but Brendon is too preoccupied with his own plans to pay much attention.

Things do not go according to plan, however, when Jason’s parents tell him he is not allowed to attend the party. They are concerned about his recent poor grades, and do not want him to get distracted. This puts a dent in Brendon’s plans, as they needed Jason to help pull off the prank on Melissa.

Meanwhile, Paula has donned a revealing costume, which attracts the attention of the new man she was hoping to impress. While he initially seems interested, things take a turn for the worse, and Paula finds herself fleeing the party in embarrassment.

Brendon’s plans to scare Melissa also do not go as planned, as she is able to see through his vampire costume and is not at all frightened. This results in Brendon feeling embarrassed and let down, as he had really been looking forward to the prank.

In the end, the party is a bit of a letdown for everyone involved, as things do not go according to plan. However, they are still able to enjoy themselves and have fun, which is what the show is ultimately about – the ups and downs of life, and how we can find joy even in the face of disappointment.
