House Rules Season 5 Episode 5 Episode 5 - SA - Kate & Harry
- May 3, 2017
Kate and Harry from South Australia are the focus of this episode of House Rules season 5. The five teams are charged with transforming their uninspiring 1960s brick home into a stylish and functional space that meets the couple's unique needs.
The teams are immediately faced with challenges, as they discover the house is smaller than it appears and lacks natural light. Additionally, the couple's request for a modern, minimalist design clashes with some of the teams’ preferences for traditional or eclectic styles. Despite these obstacles, the teams do their best to adapt to the situation at hand.
The first team to tackle the challenge is Toad and Mandy, who are tasked with creating a luxurious master bedroom for Kate and Harry. They opt for a bold, dramatic look, using dark colors and statement pieces to create a moody atmosphere. They also take on the challenge of adding more natural light by installing a skylight and using reflective surfaces.
Next up is Pete and Courtney, who focus on transforming the small living room into a functional space that still maintains the couple's minimalist style. They use clever storage solutions and multi-purpose furniture to create a sense of spaciousness, while also adding some quirky touches, such as a hammock chair and a hanging bubble chair.
Laith and George are tasked with the difficult job of redesigning the home's cramped and outdated kitchen. They choose a sleek, contemporary look, using high-gloss surfaces and hidden appliances to create a seamless appearance. They also add a unique touch with a vertical herb garden, which serves both a decorative and functional purpose.
Sean and Ella put their own spin on the outdoor area, creating a stylish, low-maintenance space that seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor living. They incorporate an impressive outdoor kitchen area, complete with a wood-fired pizza oven and built-in BBQ, as well as a cozy fire pit area for cooler nights.
Finally, Tim and Mat's challenge is to transform the cramped and outdated bathroom into a luxurious space worthy of a hotel. They choose a glamorous, Hollywood-inspired look, using marble tiles and gold fixtures to create a high-end atmosphere. They also add some unique touches, such as a freestanding bath and a chandelier.
Overall, the teams do an impressive job of transforming Kate and Harry's home, taking on challenges with grace and ingenuity. However, as always, the judges will have the final say on whose design reigns supreme and which team will be sent home.
