I Love You, America is a Hulu original series that premiered in 2017, created by and starring comedian Sarah Silverman. It ran for 21 episodes over two seasons through late 2018, and sought to explore the divide that exists within America while hoping to bridge the gap between the country's many different groups.

Each episode features Silverman delving into a particular topic, often divisive or controversial, and trying to understand it from various perspectives. These topics range from politics and religion to racism and social justice issues. Silverman's approach is often comedic, but the show also has a serious side, with moments of reflection and vulnerability.

At the heart of I Love You, America is Sarah Silverman's desire to spread more love and understanding in the world, even when it seems difficult or overwhelming. She is particularly interested in connecting with individuals who may hold opposing viewpoints to her own, and genuinely listening and learning from them. This makes for some of the show's most compelling moments, as Silverman engages in conversations with people from vastly different backgrounds to her own.

One of the recurring segments on the show sees Silverman travel around the country to meet various individuals and learn about their lives. She visits a family in rural Mississippi, a community in Alabama still fighting for civil rights, and even spends time with members of a neo-Nazi group. Through these experiences, Silverman hopes to find common ground with those she meets, and to show viewers that despite our differences, we can still find ways to work together and love one another.

Another key element of the show is the "Samantha Bee"-type field piece where Silverman takes on various issues with irreverence and aplomb. One memorable example was when she tried to book a hotel room in Puerto Rico after the hurricane, calling various hotels as if she was a regular person and finding them all booked or in disrepair. She ended up booking a first-class ticket just to get there, showing the effort it takes to truly help people in the aftermath of a natural disaster.

Throughout the show, Silverman is joined by a diverse group of guests, including actors, musicians, and activists. These guests offer their own perspectives on the topics at hand, and often engage in lively discussions with Silverman. Some of the more notable guests include comedian Tig Notaro, civil rights activist DeRay Mckesson, and journalist Dan Savage.

One of the most interesting aspects of the show is the way in which it tackles political topics. Rather than simply taking a partisan stance, Silverman often tries to understand the reasoning behind different political positions. She interviews people on the left and the right, and tries to find common ground between them. In doing so, she highlights the need for empathy and understanding in political discourse.

Despite its serious moments, I Love You, America is ultimately an uplifting show that seeks to remind viewers that there is more that unites us than divides us. Silverman's sense of humor is infectious, and her willingness to engage with people from different backgrounds is inspiring. Whether you agree with her viewpoints or not, there is no denying the value of a show that seeks to spread more love and understanding in the world.

I Love You, America is a series that is currently running and has 2 seasons (28 episodes). The series first aired on October 12, 2017.
