Impact is a miniseries that shows what happens when an asteroid hits the moon during the largest meteor shower to take place in over 10,000 years. The impact of the asteroid on the moon was not immediately known. Debris from the moon and the asteroid did fall onto Earth but the damage was minimal.

Everything seemed to be going great until small disruptions started to take place like cell phone anomalies and unusual static charge led the scientists of Earth to start exploring the ramifications of the asteroid's impact on the moon. The initial thought was that the moon had a new orbit that was slightly closer to Earth than it was previously. Now, after further investigations, it was learned that there was a highly magnetized portion of a brown dwarf embedded into the moon. This alters the moon into a collision course with the Earth. The three leading scientists then devise a device that will demagnetize the fragment and hopefully release the moon back into its original orbit.
