In the Crossfire is the fourth episode of the first season of Inside Combat Rescue. The show follows American airmen who work for the Air Force Rescue Squad and are deployed to Afghanistan on a mission to retrieve their wounded comrades from the battlefield. This episode showcases some of the most dangerous rescue operations ever undertaken by these brave airmen.

In the Crossfire picks up where the previous episode left off. Members of the Air Force Rescue Squad have just rescued two Marines who were trapped and surrounded by Taliban fighters. However, the operation is not yet over. There are still many Marines on the ground who need to be rescued, and the airmen are determined to do everything they can to get them out safely.

The first half of the episode shows the Air Force Rescue Squad as they prepare for the next rescue mission. The airmen are shown packing their gear, checking their weapons and conducting drills to make sure they are ready for any situation they might encounter on the ground. They also discuss their strategy for the rescue mission, which involves landing their helicopter in a hot LZ (landing zone) so they can quickly get their wounded comrades out of harm's way.

The second half of the episode shows the airmen as they execute their plan. The helicopter lands in a field near a group of Marines who are pinned down by enemy fire. As soon as the helicopter touches down, the airmen rush out and begin loading the wounded Marines onto the aircraft. However, the Taliban fighters are quickly closing in, and the airmen are caught in the crossfire.

With bullets flying all around them, the airmen do their best to fight off the enemy while also loading the wounded Marines onto the helicopter. The tension is palpable as the airmen work quickly and efficiently, knowing that they need to get out of there as soon as possible. They radio for air support, but it will take some time for the jets to arrive.

In the meantime, the airmen must rely on their own skills and training to get themselves and their comrades out safely. They use smoke grenades to screen their movements and take cover behind the helicopter when the shooting gets too intense. One of the airmen is hit in the leg, but he continues to fight on, determined to get his comrades to safety.

Eventually, the air support arrives, and the airmen are able to withdraw from the LZ. The wounded Marines are taken to the nearest medical facility, where they receive the best possible care from the Air Force medical team.

Throughout the episode, viewers get a sense of the incredible bravery and skill required to be a member of the Air Force Rescue Squad. These airmen risk their lives every day to save others, and they do it with a level of professionalism and dedication that is truly inspiring. The episode also highlights the human cost of war, as we see the wounded Marines and their families grappling with the aftermath of the battle.

In the Crossfire is a harrowing and emotional episode that showcases the heroism and sacrifice of the men and women who serve in the Air Force Rescue Squad. It is a reminder of the incredible courage and commitment that it takes to be a member of the armed forces, and of the debt of gratitude that we owe to those who serve our country.
